Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to explore the relationships amongst football fans’ travel motivations (FFTMs), their satisfaction (SAT), their perceived destination image (PDI) and their behavioural intentions (BIs). On the other hand, the mediating effects of SAT on the relationships among FFTMs, PDI and BIs are analyzed.

Design/methodology/approach

An approach based on a quantitative research method was used, and the data were gathered from Italian and British tourists who visited Istanbul, aiming to attend the Champions League Final match of Manchester City versus Inter Milan.

Findings

Based on 277 applicable surveys, Smart-PLS was conducted to test the conceptual model. The results indicated positive and meaningful relationships amongst FFTMs, SAT, PDI and Bis. Moreover, the results also demonstrated that the effect of FFTMs and PDI on BIs is mediated by SAT.

Originality/value

This research makes a contribution to the football tourism literature by first examining the theory of planned behaviour in conjunction with FFTMs, SAT, PDI and BIs. Furthermore, the findings of this study could offer valuable insights to assist tourism marketers in gaining a deeper understanding of FFTMs, BIs, SAT and PDI.

本研究探讨了足球迷的旅行动机、满意度 (SAT)、感知目的地形象 (PDI) 和旅游后行为(BI) 之间的关系。 另一方面, 分析了 SAT 对 FFTMs、PDI 和 BIs 之间关系的中介效应。

研究设计/方法

采用定量研究方法, 数据收集对象为前往伊斯坦布尔观看曼城对阵国际米兰的欧洲冠军联赛决赛的意大利和英国游客。

基于 277 份调查问卷, 采用Smart-PLS对概念模型进行了检验。 结果表明, 足球迷的旅行动机、满意度、目的地形象感知及旅游后行为之间存在积极且有意义的关系。此外, 结果还表明, FFTMs 和 PDI 对 BIs 的影响是由 SAT 介导的。

这项研究首先将计划行为理论与 FFTMs、SAT、PDI 和 BIs 结合起来进行检验, 为足球旅游文献做出了贡献。

Objetivo

Este estudio explora las relaciones entre las motivaciones de viaje de los aficionados al fútbol (FFTM), su satisfacción (SAT), su imagen percibida del destino (PDI) y sus intenciones de comportamiento (BI). Por otra parte, se analizan los efectos mediadores de la SAT en las relaciones entre las FFTM, la PDI y las BI.

Diseño/metodología/enfoque:

Se adoptó un enfoque de investigación cuantitativa y se recopilaron datos de turistas italianos y británicos que visitaron Estambul con el objetivo de asistir al partido de la final de la Liga de Campeones entre el Manchester City y el Inter de Milán.

Resultados

Sobre la base de 277 encuestas aplicables, se llevó a cabo un PLS-Smart para probar el modelo conceptual. Los resultados indicaron relaciones positivas y significativas entre los FFTM, el SAT, el PDI y los BI. Además, los resultados también demostraron que el efecto de los FFTM y el PDI sobre las BI está mediado por el SAT.

Originalidad/valor

Esta investigación contribuye a la literatura sobre el turismo futbolístico al examinar por primera vez la Teoría del Comportamiento Planificado en conjunción con los FFTM, el SAT, el PDI y las BI. Además, los resultados de este estudio podrían ofrecer ideas valiosas para ayudar a los profesionales del marketing turístico a comprender mejor los FFTM, los BI, el SAT y el PDI.

Abstract

Purpose

In the field of tourism, numerous studies have been conducted on tourists' food experiences. However, more studies are needed to comprehend tourists' dining experience in unique cuisines. Thus, the main purpose of this study was to examine the components of tourists' dining experiences related to palace cuisine foods.

Design/methodology/approach

In this study, a qualitative approach was adopted to capture the components of tourists' dining experiences. The online narratives of tourists (n = 911) who had experienced Ottoman palace cuisine in Istanbul were obtained from an online travel platform (TripAdvisor) and analyzed using content analysis.

Findings

Seven main components were revealed: perceived authenticity, perceived service quality, knowledge, a sense of royalty, food specialties and attributes, a memorable experience and a sense of awe.

Practical implications

By identifying components of the palace cuisine dining experience and their relevant importance, the findings of this study can increase service providers' knowledge and facilitate their jobs. To be able to meet the expectations of tourists experiencing the palace cuisine, service providers can improve their services by considering research results.

Originality/value

Results revealed that obtained six dimensions were parallel with previous studies on food experience; however, this study uncovered a previously unexplored dimension named a sense of royalty. This can be shown as the unique contribution of this study to the tourist food experience literature.

Abstract

Purpose

Awareness of environmental and environmental ethical behaviours are increasing day by day in the hospitality sector. Concepts are examined more and more from the “green” point of view. This study aims to reveal the impact of green transformational leadership on green creativity and the mediating effects of green organizational citizenship behaviours in the relationship between green transformational leadership and green creativity in the context of hospitality.

Design/methodology/approach

This study was designed according to the quantitative approach. Hotel employees in Istanbul, Turkey (N = 201) provided data later analysed in three stages. First, JAMOVI software outputs provided descriptive statistics. Second, confirmatory factor analyses ensured the validity of the research. Third, SmartPLS was used to test the hypotheses of the study.

Findings

The results revealed that green transformational leadership positively affects employees' green creativity and green organizational citizenship behaviours. Moreover, green organizational citizenship behaviours partially mediate the relationship between green transformational leadership and green creativity.

Originality/value

To the best of our knowledge, no research examines the mediating effect of green organizational citizenship behaviours in the relationship between green transformational leadership and green creativity. This research will contribute to the relevant literature by filling this gap. This study is original in its attempt to reveal the nature of green organizational behaviours of hospitality employees. It contributes to the literature on green transformational leadership, green creativity and green organizational citizenship behaviours.

Abstract

Purpose

Despite the significant economic contributions of the tourism and hospitality industry, it is also considered an emerging concern for its negative impact on the environment. This study investigated the association between green inclusive leadership (GIL), green human resource management (GHRM), and employee proactive pro-environmental behaviour (PEB). The study also investigated the mediating effect of GHRM between GIL and proactive PEB.

Design/methodology/approach

Hotel employees in Malaysia were the respondents in this study. The researchers used a cross-sectional approach and partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyse the data.

Findings

Results found a significant relationship between GIL, GHRM and proactive PEB. Findings of the study revealed that GHRM significantly meditates the relations between GIL and proactive PEB.

Practical implications

This study presents practical implications for the hotel industry by encouraging employees' environmentally responsible behaviour. Enlightening the role of environmentally open and accepting ways to promote positive employee behaviour is of considerable practical use not solely for the organisations but additionally for culture as a whole.

Originality/value

Theoretical contributions are made by constructing a new structural model supported by the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) and the induction of GIL, GHRM, and proactive PEB and measuring the factors simultaneously. The study further established the mediating role of GHRM between GIL and proactive PEB.
