Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to investigate the roles of perceived usefulness, top management support and information technology (IT) infrastructure in developing user satisfaction and loyalty in the context of smart factory.

Design/methodology/approach

This study gathered the data through a survey of 161 smart factory workers in South Korea. A partial least squares analysis was used to test the measurement and structural models.

Findings

The results show that perceived usefulness positively influences satisfaction. In addition, IT infrastructure significantly affects both satisfaction and loyalty. Finally, system quality has a positive impact on perceived usefulness.

Research limitations/implications

IT infrastructure facilitates the level of satisfaction and loyalty. System quality enhances the satisfaction via perceived usefulness. Researchers need to examine the nature of IT infrastructure and system quality that will foster satisfaction and loyalty. Future studies can examine the segmented constructs of IT infrastructure to understand the role of IT infrastructure more comprehensively.

Practical implications

Firms should invest more in IT infrastructure and pay attention to elevate the level of system quality of smart factory. This research provides managers with guidance concerning how IT infrastructure of firms and system quality of smart factory have positive effects on satisfaction and loyalty.

Originality/value

This study contributes to the extant literature on information system (IS), project management, organizational innovation and industrial marketing. This research incorporated system factors, top management support and IT infrastructure to understand satisfaction and loyalty of IS users in the context of smart factory. The findings offer a useful view for integrating insights from different research streams.

Abstract

Purpose

This study examines the key determinants of subscription intentions for ChatGPT Plus (paid version) in business settings, focusing on tasks such as system quality, information support, service quality, perceived intelligence, goal-congruent outcome and self-efficacy.

Design/methodology/approach

The study utilized a survey of office workers, analyzed through structural equation modeling, to explore these determinants.

Findings

The results demonstrate that system quality, service quality and perceived intelligence significantly influence satisfaction, while service quality and perceived intelligence also impact goal-congruent outcomes. Contrary to traditional models, satisfaction does not significantly correlate with usage. Instead, a significant relationship is observed between goal-congruent outcomes and usage. Self-efficacy emerges as a crucial predictor of subscription intentions, further underlined by the significant impact of usage on subscription intention.

Research limitations/implications

The study’s focus on office workers and a single artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot type may limit generalizability. Its findings illuminate several avenues for future research, particularly in diversifying the context and demographics studied.

Practical implications

This research offers actionable insights for businesses and practitioners in the implementation of AI chatbots. It highlights the importance of enhancing system quality, personalization and user confidence to boost subscription intentions, thereby guiding strategies for user engagement and technology adoption.

Originality/value

This study pioneers in investigating subscription intentions towards AI chatbots, particularly ChatGPT, providing a novel framework that expands upon traditional user behavior theories.

Abstract

We analyze the dynamic behavior of the volatility of KTB futures price through GARCH models. In conducting this analysis we use two type data. Using dailly data we analyze the return and volatility spill-over effect between KTB spot and futures. Through 15-minute and 5-minute data we analyze return and volatility spill-over effect between KTB futures and won/dollar futures. We find that ARCH and GARCH effect exists in the volatility of KTB futures, but leverage effect does not exist in this data. Volatility spill-over effect was found only in 15-minute data. Lead and lag effect was found in 15-minute data of dollar and KTB futures where dollar return leads KTB futures and KTB volatility leads dollar volatility. In the daily data we found that KTB futures return lead KTB spot return while mutual spill-over existed between spot and futures in volatility data. Since conditional heteroscedasticity exists in KTB futures we need to consider the these effects in building up systems for arbitrage, valuation and risk management.

Abstract

Purpose

Because mobile manipulators are unable to climb stairs, the elevator operation is a crucial capacity to help those kinds of robot systems work in modern multifloor buildings. Here, the elevator button manipulation is considered as an efficient approach to fulfill that requirement. Previously, some studies presented elevator button recognition algorithms while some others designed schemes for the button manipulation work. However, the mobile robot, the manipulator and the camera in their robot systems are asynchronous. Besides, the time-consuming calibration for the camera is inevitable, especially in changeable environments. This paper aims to present an alternative method for the elevator button manipulation to overcome mentioned shortcomings.

Design/methodology/approach

In this paper, the elevator button manipulation is conducted by using the visual-based self-driving mobile manipulator in which the autonomous mobile robot, the manipulator and the camera cooperate more efficiently. Namely, the mobile robot does not need to be located exactly in front of the elevator panel as the manipulator has the ability to adjust the initial frame of the camera based on the system kinematic synchronization. In addition, the proposed method does not require the real world coordinates of elevator buttons, but uniquely using their pixel positions. By doing this, not only is the projection from two-dimensional pixel coordinates to three-dimensional (3D) real world coordinates unnecessary, but also the calibration of the camera is not required.

Findings

The proposed method is experimentally verified by using a visual-based self-driving mobile manipulator. This robotic system is the integration of an autonomous mobile robot, a manipulator and a camera mounted on the end-effector of the manipulator.

Research limitations/implications

Because the surface of the elevator button panel is usually mirror-like, the elevator button detection is easily affected by the glare and the brightness of the environmental light condition.

Practical implications

This robot system can be used for the goods delivery or the patrol in modern multifloor buildings.

Originality/value

This paper includes three new features: simultaneously detecting and manipulating elevator buttons without the projection from pixel coordinates to 3D real world coordinates, a kinematic synchronization to help the robot system eliminate accumulated errors and a safe human-like elevator button manipulation.
